Ryan Joseph Phillips

I am currently the Director of Athletics Enterprise Branding & Digital Strategy with the Dayton Flyers. My main role consists of leading the development and integration of athletic programs’ presence on the web and digital space. I lead in the management and direction of the primary social media channels for Dayton Athletics, including Dayton Flyers and Dayton Men's Basketball. In addition, I also assist with strategy, execution, and analytics for all other Flyer Athletics social media properties.

My main goal is simple; to do whatever I can to help tell the story of the Dayton Flyers.

My Why

To me, working in sports is about connecting communities together. It is about meeting people in a moment and creating an experience that can live on. As a kid growing up with a family constantly on the move, I had to find my way to connect. Sports became my connector. It didn’t matter whether it was my family, my new/old friends, or a random person at a sporting event, sports gave me the common ground to connect with others. Sports gave me the moments that profoundly impacted my life.

There is something so raw and authentic about sports. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from, or anything else about you. During a sporting event, all that matters is who you are cheering for. Are you with me or against me? In those moments, you can break down barriers to create moments that can transform a life. My goal - my why - my purpose for working day in and day out - is to help create those moments. To amplify those moments. And to help tell the story of those moments.

If I can help contribute to one of those moments for someone, no matter how big or small, I have done my job.
